Orlando Berr Kidder was born in Wethersfield, Vermont on 14 August 1811, and died at his home in Claremont, Minn, on October 14, 1881, the son of Moses Kidder and Nancy Ann (Goodwin) Kidder.

Having spent his early years in his native state, he moved to New Hampshire and lived many years in the towns of Newport and Claremont. He came to Minnesota in 1854.

Here he located on a farm and by good management made it both profitable and beautiful. He watched with an eye of interest the progressive movements of this town and county and was always glad to see evidence of prosperity everywhere.

His first wife was Fanny Maria Perry. She died in 1848. Their children: are Lucy Lemira Kidder; George Burr Kidder; Orlando Perry Kidder.

His 2nd wife was Eliza Mary Way. She died in 1886.

A year ago he was chosen to represent the western district of Dodge County in the legislature and proved a faithful Representative and was honored and respected by the body of which he was a member.

Failing health induced him to resign his seat. The last few weeks were quiet and peaceful, declining rapidly, but without pain, willing to stay, but ready to go, satisfied that life had not been a failure--but the end was at hand.

The funeral took place on Sunday, the 16th inst., at his late residence. Notwithstanding the unpleasant weather and the extremely bad roads, the attendance was very large.

He leaves a wife and two sons in Claremont, Minn., and a sister, Mrs. L.S. Barnes, in this town; Mrs. Kidder was a daughter of the late Gordon Way and sister of Dr. O. B. Way and Mrs. Ira Colby of this town. Mr. Kidder also had relatives in Newport and Croyden.

The Dalby Database says his parent was Jessial Perry, but that is the name of his first wife's father.
