Funeral services were held April 12 from Hickory Grove Baptist Church for Rev. Raymond Martin Durden, 52, of Rt. 1, Madison, who died April 10 at Emory University Hospital. Rev. Marshal Yancey, Rev. James Morgan, Rev. J. C. Studdard, Rev. James Owens and Rev. Richard Cole officiated and interment was in Youth Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Charles Adams, Lee Shelton, Gerry Adams and Howard Wehunt.

Born in Walton County, March 29, 1924, Durden was a son of the late John W. Durden and Lucy Dobbs Callahan Durden. He was a member of Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mattie Rae O'Kelley Durden; daughter, Mrs. Barbara Ann Gobble; son, Raymond Lewis Durden of Clairmont; sisters, Mrs. Oliver Studdard and Mrs. C. F. Sullivan, both of Social Circle, and Mrs. C.W. Bailey of Monroe; brothers, Lillous Callahan of Madison, Paul Durden and Spence Durden, both of Monroe, and Lunnie Durden of Social Circle; sister-in-law, Mrs. Howard Shelton of Monroe; and grandchildren, Denise Ray and Lee Ray, both of Madison, and Robert Lewis Durden of Clairmont.
