WORTH- Ora W. Bice, 86, died at 1:25p.m. Thursday in the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, where he had been admitted April 15. The funeral will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams with Rev. John Downs, pastor St. Cecelia's Church, Adams, Officiating. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, Adams.Calling hours will be Saturday and Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Donations may be made in his name to the South Jefferson Rescue Squad.He is survived by his wife, Gladys Bice; five sons, Daniel, John, and James, Lorraine, Robert, Theresa and Richard, Sackets Harbor; five daughters, Miss June Bice, at home, Mrs. Marguerite Jones and Mrs. Henry (Betty) Robbins, Watertown, Mrs. Karl (Sandra) Piddock, Lorraine, and Mrs. Victor (Jennie) Carr, Glen Park. a sister, Mrs. Harvey (Mildred) Hoan, Smithville; 16 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Another daughter Joan Lydia Bice, died in infancy.Born March 29, 1891, at the family homestead in the Town of Worth, son of Henry and Mary McCargor Bice, he married Gladys O'Connor Dec. 30, 1924, at Sackets Harbor. In his early years he worked for various lumber companies on Tug Hill and in the Adirondacks. A lifelong farmer, he had operated the family homestead.Mr. and Mrs. Bice recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary.
