Gertrude W. Moran Worked at Sacred Heart rectory
Gertrude W. Moran, 78, of Wilson, formerly of Willow Avenue in Niagara Falls, died
Saturday in Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston after a long illness.
She was a native of Little Falls, Minn., the daughter of the late Michael F. and Mary
Jane (Neuman) Ward. [Mary A. Newman Ward -- Ed]
Mrs. Moran moved to Niagara Falls in 1920 and graduated from Stella Niagara in 1927.
She was a secretary for various law offices in the city and a secretary at the Sacred
Heart Church rectory during the 1950s and 1960s. She moved to Wilmington, N.C., in 1977,
and moved to Wilson in May of this year.
Mrs. Moran was a former member of the Sacred Heart Mothers Club and the Bishop
Duffy Mothers Club. .
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Moran of Wilmington, N.C.; four sons, Joseph
Moran of Wilson, Patrick T. Moran of Boxborough, Mass., Daniel J. Moran of Wilmington,
N.C. and Timothy F. Moran of Niagara Falls; one daughter, Mary J. Moran of Glen Cove,
N.Y.; and one sister, Beulah Mills of South Laguna, Calif. She is also survived by 12
grandchildren .
She was the mother of the late Capt. Michael J. Moran, of the United States Army.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 today at the Rhoney Funeral Home Inc.,
1124 Ontario Ave. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home
and at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery
in Lewiston. Contributions to the Sacred Heart Church Renovation Fund are acceptable as
tribute.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
