Beulah was born in Little Falls, Minnesota Oct. 8, 1906. In 1912, when she was five years old, her Mother passed away. Because of that, she and her Sister, Gertrude, were moved to Wisconsin where they were raised by their paternal Grandparents, Michael and Anna Lavelle Ward. They stayed there until 1920 when they were enrolled in a boarding school near Niagara Falls, NY where their Father was living. The boarding school's official name is "Seminary of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart" but it's more commonly referred to by the hamlet in which it's located; "Stella Niagara."
After completing High School there in 1926, Beulah worked as a legal secretary in Niagara Falls for a few years and then moved to New York City. In New York, Beulah and the widowed Ed Acheson Jr. were married on Oct. 9, 1931. He was 44, she was 24. They divorced in Reno, Nevada on July 3, 1936. (Coincidentally [?], the family of Ed Acheson Jr. lived in Lewiston, NY, just a few miles up the Niagara River from Stella Niagara.)
After the divorce, Beulah returned to New York City. And at some point she and the love of her life, Tommy Mills, moved to California. They were married in Las Vegas on Sept. 28, 1940 and remained happily until Tommy passed away in 1966. Beulah did not marry again, had no children and passed away on July 18, 1988 in Laguna Hills, California. -Ed
