After the war, he became owner of the Simpson Motor Company and the Simpson Bus Company in Carrollton, Illinois. He served as chairman of the Greene County Republican Committee, a member of the executive committee of the County Chairman's Association of Illinois, Carrollton City Treasurer and a member of Carrollton Board of Education. In 1943, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-eighth Congress and to the next seven succeeding Congresses, serving until his death from a heart attack. His wife was U.S. Congresswoman Edna Simpson.
