Curtisa Ann Couts, age 80, of New Philadelphia went to be with the Lord, Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, where she had received her card following a two-year illness. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker totally devoted to her family and her faith.

Tisa, as her friends and family knew her, was born on Oct. 12, 1929, at Emerson, Oh., in Jefferson County. She was a daughter of the late Curtis A. Patterson and Sarah Ann (McMillan) Patterson.

She was baptized in First Christian Church at Cadiz, Oh., and also serve many years as a teacher in Strasburg United Methodist Church. She died as a member of the First Christian Church of New Philadelphia. Her favorite hymns were "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Be Thou My Vision."

A graduate of New Philadelphia High School's class of 1947, Tisa enjoyed traveling with her husband, the companionship of her dog, reading, sewing, cooking, and sharing good times with friends and family.

Tisa leaves behind her beloved husband, W. Dean Couts of New Philadelphia, who whe married on June 11, 1954; a daughter, Elizabeth Anne (Michael) Slater of Strasburg; a son, James Couts of New Philadlephia; and a sister Sarah Lou (James) Schussler of Ashland, Oh.; two grandsons, Alex Couts and Brian Slater, as well as many, much loved nieces and nephews who complete the family.

In addition to her parents, Tisa was preceded in death by a son, Adam Dean Couts, who died in infancy in 1962, and three brothers George (Katie) Patterson, Oscar Patterson and Lloyd (Cora) Patterson.

It was Tisa's desire to have anyone wishing to make an expression fo remembrance of her life to visit with her family on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, one hour prior to services, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the First Christian Church at New Philadelphia. Pastor Jim Boron will lead a service celebrating Tisa's life in the church's sanctuary on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.

Following services, the family would like to invite gusts to join them in the church fellowship hall where they will share in a time of food and fellowship.
