Mrs. Emily Ament died at her home in Oberlin, Ohio, Wednesday morning, aged 90 years, after a short illness, although she had not been active fcr several months. Mrs. Ament was formerly Miss Emily Holland, and was born in New York state, coining to Owosso in the earliest years of the settlement here, marrying Winfield Ament, one of the leading men in the early life of this part of the state, being a man of sterling qualities, an organizer, and one of those who had faith that Owosso was to be .one of the leading cities of the state. He built the National Hotel and was interested in much property in and near here. Mrs. Ament's death will be deeply felt by the older residents of the city, and by many of the younger ones who have known of her beautiful Christian life, her devotion to every good can, her wonderful influence for good on all who came in contact with her. Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Ament, Rev. W. S. Ament being the only one to survive the parents. He is and has been for thirty years a most successful Congregational missionary in China. Mrs. W. S. Ament and children and Miss Clarabel Leggett, granddaughter of Mrs. Ament, was with her at the time of her death. Mrs. Ament moved to Oberlin, Ohio, seven years ago to give her grandchildren the benefit of the college lire and education at that place. She spent a week last summer at the home of G. C. Duff in this city and enjoyed the visit with old friends, suffering from the trip here although she was over years of age. Her birthday May 3, was to have been made unusually pleasant, but her death prevents. The funeral will be held Sunlt afternoon ot 3:00 at the Congregational church in this city, Rev. C. H.
