G. A. MATHIEU DIES SUDDENLY
George A. Mathieu, 72, residing on Bedford R. R. 4 in the Dive school community, died suddenly at 8:00 o?clock Saturday night at his home from a heart attack. He was occupying a chair when stricken and a physician summoned responded to the call immediately but found death had resulted when he arrived.
The body was removed to the Sherwood & Ferguson funeral home for burial preparation and will lie in state there until the funeral, arranged for 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Sherwood & Ferguson Chapel with the Very Rev. William Boland, rector of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will be in Green Hill cemetery. The casket will not be opened at the close of the service.
The son of Perry and Elizabeth Mathieu, the deceased was born in Moberly, Mo., March 10, 1874. He was in the employee of the C. M. St. P. & P. Railway Company for a number of years, being in charge of construction on the main line of the railroad. He retired several years ago.
He was reared in the Catholic faith.
Mr. Mathieu was twice married, first in early life with Anna Harris, who preceded him in death in 1908. He next wed Hannah A. Early December 11, 1911, who survives.
Other survivors are three daughters, Mrs. John D. Fuller and Mrs. Frank Quackenbush of Bedford, and Mrs. Ross Correll of Austin, Texas; a stepson, Edward Mathieu, of Bedford; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Murphy of Houston, Texas and Mrs. Lucy Whitmore of Williamsburg, Missouri; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
