Bobbie Kreiss, son of John and Lottie Miles Kreiss, was born March 27, 1919 in Keosauqua and was found dead in his bed at Hotel Manning on Tuesday, February 19, 1980, at the age of 60.
His entire life was spent in Keosauqua, except for the years duirng World War II when he served with the United States Army in the Pacific Theater. He earned two purple heart medals in the service of his country.
Remaining to cherish his memory are a son, John of Long Beach, California; a brother John of Mt. Pleasant; five sisters, Beedie Kreiss, Waterloo; Florence Hobbs, Ottumwa; Lena DeHart, Wickenburg, Arizona; Edith Jemison, Oskaloosa; and Lottie Mae Bowen, Marshalltown, nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Lawrence, Harold and Joe.
He had been employed at the Wester Auto Store in Keosauqua and was presently working for Livesay Sanitary Service.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 22, 1980, at 1:30 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with Rev. Paul Knupp officiating. Interment was in Purdom Cemetery, with military rites in charge of Beer-Barker Post, American Legion.
