*** Edith did not marry a Reuben Dabney Brown as posted on Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.org *** The Benjamin Brown line from Albemarle County, Virginia is of a different Y-DNA group than the males descending from the male sons of Edith and her first husband. The correct group is Y-DNA group 57. Also her Edith's name has not been proven to be Eddy, nor is there a Reuben Dabney Brown, son of Benjamin Brown. There is a grandson (son of Bernard) but he was born in 1777, one year after the birth of Dance. That Reuben Dabney married Lucy Thompson Brown, daughter of Bezaleel Brown and Mary Thompson. That Reuben Dabney also came to Sumner County, TN by 1830 but is not related to Dance or his siblings originating out of Bedford County, VA.

The 1766 is an approximate marriage to an unknown Brown. Their children were George Thomas, Dance, Sarah, and Rahab. There may have been others. Edith married John Grant in Bedford County, Va. in 1794. They had no children.

1789 - Tax list taken Feb 23, 1789: Edith first appears in Bedford County, Va. tax lists with no titheables over 21.  The numbers:
0-0-1 which means no tithables, white or black over 21 - no white males 12-16 and 1 horse/colt/mare/cattle
She is listed after Joseph, Zachariah and Jesse Brown. She is listed through 1794. Taken Feb 23 with Joseph Brown, Daniel Brown, Jr., George (Thomas) on the same day.

1793 - Edith listed in tax list none tithables Bedford County, Va.

1794 - July 19 Bond dated for marriage to John Grant - Bedford County, Va.

1794 - July 22 married in a ceremony by Rev. John Ayers, a Methodist minister. (Bedford PRO 1:229)

She is listed near Joseph, Zachariah and a Jesse Brown.  And she is listed on tax records through 1794.

John and Edy sold land in Russell County, Va in 1808, so her death was after 1808, in either Russell County, Va or Sumnner Co., TN or somewhere in between.

Edith died sometime after Sep 5, 1808 - either Russell County, Va or Sumner County, Tn.
