TAMPA, Fla. -- Ernest Rasmussen, 92, Tampa, formerly of Davenport, died July 11, 2002, at his home.

Memorial services were July 15 at Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Rasmussen had a career in banking. He retired in 1974. He lived in Davenport from 1945 to 1968.

He was born Oct. 31, 1909, in Atlantic, Iowa. In college, he boxed under the name "Honey Boy Mussen." While in the Navy, he boxed Golden Gloves, never suffering a defeat. He had served in the Marine Corps and was lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to LifePath Hospice Inc. or American Cancer Society.

Survivors include daughter, Karen Davies, Highland, Calif.; sons, Peter E., Kennewick, Wash., and Jon C., Tampa; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

His wife, Dorothy Gray Rasmussen, preceded him in death.
