US Congressman. He graduated from the Pennsylvania State Normal School, in 1888 and from the law department of Milton College Wisconsin. During his early career, he worked as reporter, correspondent, managing editor and publisher of newspapers in Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York. He was also superintendent of the press department of the Pan American Exposition at New York, in 1901, managing editor of the Buffalo Enquirer, and superintendent of graphic arts of the St. Louis Exposition. In addition, he was director of publicity of the Jamestown Exposition in 1907, the brokerage business, in Atlanta, Georgia, and a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1928. In 1939, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-sixth and Seventy-seventh Congresses and served in office until his death at age 75.
