Note: Alicia is buried at St James Cemetery in Toronto. She is listed as Alice Napier Husband.
According to a Family bible it states that John died in Nassagawaya and then buried in Ebenezer Cemetery. According to the cemetery he is buried here. This is verified and supported.

In 1812 he was aboard an American vessel on his way to Rhode Island and employment. At the time, there was a state of war between England and the United states. A British man o' war boarded the ship and pressed some of the passengers into service in the British navy. John was among these. He served from July 12,1812 to July 16,1816 under Lord Exmouth in campaigns of the Napoleonic wars in the Mediterranean and the eastern coast of the United States where he took part in the battle between the "Chesapeake" and the "Shannon"

After the war he returned to Ireland shortly after married Alicia Colden Napier, great granddaughter of Francis the Fifth Lord Napier of Scotland. (Napier family information to follow.)
In May of 1822 the family immigrated to Canada. Because he served in the British navy, John was eligible for a land grant of 100 acres. He chose his acreage in Nassagaweya Township not of Oakville.
