Ralph was owner and operator of his own farm on Township Road 212 and also was a school bus driver for Coshocton County for 33 years before retiring. He was a member of Shepler Church where he was Sunday school superintendent and had been a trustee of the church for many years.
He was well known for his participation with his horses in parades in Coshocton county and surrounding areas.
He was married August 11, 1932 to Opal D. Bickel. She died June 10, 1980.
Surviving are three sons, Roger W. Ames, Thomas E. Ames, and Donald R. Ames; two daughters, Mrs. Gary (Linda) Brenly and Mrs. George (Darlene) Bechtol; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dale, James F. and Raymond; three sisters, Mrs. Alva (Myrtle) Johnson, Mrs. Carl (Virginia) Davis and Mrs. Roy (Esther) Conkle; nieces and nephews.
