LUCY LYONS RESSEGUIE
Lucy Lyons Resseguie was born December 24, 1849, and passed away at her home in Lamoni September 3, 1925.

Her early religious life was manifested in the Episcopalian faith. Coming in touch with the Latter Day work she accepted its teachings and was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1876.

On November 30, 1893, she was married to R. R. Resseguie.

With her sister, Mrs. John Atkinson, the one living member of her own family, she made her home in her earlier years—years made happy by the joy of close association with her and her family. The sister preceded her in death nearly four years ago.

Closely interwoven in her life, especially in later years, has been "Aunt Nettie," (Mrs. M. Walker) whose comfort and happiness was her first thought and constant consideration.

Sister Resseguie came to Lamoni in the early eighties and for thirteen years held the public office of postmistress of the town, later becoming the homemaker for the children of Bro. and Sr. Elijah J. Banta.

She was active in church and Sunday school work, superintending for many years the little folks' department in the latter, teaching and giving them of her best until her failing health made it no longer possible. Her knowledge of music and her willingness to respond to the church's need made her service of great value in this way.

Among the many other tasks that fell to her lot to do was helping in the compilation of the hymns for the Saints' Hymnal. She was a charter member of the Students Society and always its strong supporter. But her greatest Christian works were not the ones performed in a public way. Few of her closest friends knew how many, many little deeds of thoughtfulness were performed for the happiness of others. Even those of her own household were not aware of her ministrations.

The funeral services were held from the home Sunday at 4 p. m., in charge of F. A. Smith, Elder Joseph Luff preaching the sermon. Interment in Rose Hill.

Music consisted of a solo by Mrs. Frances Norris and quartet numbers by Mrs. Aliene Walden, Mrs. Frances Norris, Walter Walden, and George Lewis; Miss Mabel Carlile at the piano.
