Louis "Lee" Porter, age 78, of Portage, passed away Monday, April 25, 2011 at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart.
Lee was a lifelong Northwest Indiana resident and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Inland Steel in 1990 and was a member of the Deep River Church of Christ. Lee is survived by his wife, Judy; three children: Jeff (Karen) Porter of Hobart, Amy Tackett of Portage, and Randy Porter of Hobart; four grandchildren: Jeff Barrett, Stacy (Chad) King, Carolyn Tackett and Kyle Porter; brother, Paul Porter; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers: Walter, Jennings, Roscoe and Harold Porter; and sister, Fern Hansen.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to either the Visiting Nurse Association of Porter County or Deep River Church of Christ would be appreciated.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 28 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart, with Mr. Ron Buche, Minister, officiating.
Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 219-942-2109
