Young Arthur a local cotton mill worker and the son of Marshall and Maggie Sasser Coble had the most unfortunate accident on Hitchcock Cree, near Great Falls mill and lost his life.
The lad, who was but 14 years old, was fishing in the creek with his father; they had two shotguns to shoot fish. His father got out of the boat and proceeded probably ten feet from the water’s edge, when he heard the gun shot. When he turned towards the shot, he saw his son dropping into the water. The youth evidently, in getting out of the boat, caught the hammer against the boat; the load entered his right side and death was practically instantaneous.

The funeral was held from the residence and interment was at Northam Cemetery.
