The ship roster shows her and twin sister Bertha Paulina as the youngest of the family, both age 11 months. Martha died two days after their arrival in America.
Her father Theodor dies six years after arrival and is buried in this same Old Dunk cemetery as this daughter. This cemetery was the first cemetery location for Holy Cross Lutheran Church. The church itself relocated a few miles down the road in later years, and the main church cemetery is now at that location.
