When a boy he lived with the family of Mrs. Hannah Powers in York township for several years, attended district school, and worked on the farm in that neighborhood until October 22, 1876, when he was joined in marriage with Miss Lydia A. Robinson, who survives him. After marriage they moved to their farm in Scott township, lived there fourteen years and then moved to Angola which was his home until death.
