Marjorie Lucile Nelson died March 1, 2010 at the Longmont United Hospital. She was 88
She was born March 21, 1921 in Afton, Iowa to Earl and Lucile (Ballreich) Carey. As a child she was active in 4-H clubs and especially loved cooking and sewing. She graduated from high school and attended Wheaton College for two years before marrying Melvin C. Nelson on Sept 8, 1944 in Afton, Iowa.
Throughout her life she was an active church member and volunteer, including various volunteer organizations in the community. Earlier in her life she worked outside the home as a secretary for various organizations and businesses. Marjorie lived many places including California, Alabama, Virginia, and Maryland before moving to Longmont in 1990
Marjorie attended Westview Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Deborah ruth Circle. She will be remembered as a sweet and generous lady who like to laugh.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Edwin Carey.
Marjorie is survived by her husband Melvin of Longmont; two sons Gary Nelson, Craig Nelson; daughter Karen Bresnik; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service 3 PM Saturday March 6, 2010 at Westview Presbyterian Church. Cremation at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
