Ruth Irene Weimer, 74, of Blairsville, formerly of Ligonier, died Monday, April 28, 2003, in Latrobe Area Hospital, after a long battle with cancer. She was born July 29, 1928, in Cook Township, a daughter of the late William Emerson and Jennie Knupp Baldwin. She was a retired custodian of the Greater Latrobe School District. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Merle E. Baldwin, and a sister, Bessie Craig Miller. She was the loving mother of a son, Henry L. Palmer and his wife, Patty of Ligonier, and two daughters, Karen Lauffer and her husband, Gerald, of Blairsville and Bonnie L. Chesla and her husband, Thomas, of Derry. She is also survived by a sister, Ethel Whipkey; a brother, Leroy Baldwin and his wife, Margaret; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Baldwin, all of Ligonier; eight grandchildren, Lori Hough, Michael Smith, Lisa Weister, Jenny Link, Thomas J. Chesla Jr., Amy Hutchison, Kristy Stape and James Pershing; five great-grandchildren, Tiffany and Stephanine Weister, Collin Fink, Nathan Chesla and Christian Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Snyder Funeral Home Inc. & Crematory, Bell and East Church streets, Ligonier, from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of the funeral home with Brother Michael Yuhas officiating. Private interment will be in Snowball Cemetery, Cook Township, Elizabeth Snyder Bloom, funeral director.
