I believe this grave for "Mother" is that of Mary Killinger Stahl, the mother of Jane and Frank Stahl who are buried in this Stahl family plot. She was born about 1824 in Maryland to a father born in Wurttemberg (Germany) and a mother b. in Maryland. I believe she died at 91 in about 1915. Her husband, Private Joseph Stahl, Co D, 21st IA Inf. died 9 Aug 1863 of typhoid while serving the Union in the Civil War. He is buried in Jefferson Barracks military cemetery in St Louis Co, MO, findagrave memorial # 55009863. Joseph and Mary had several children on their farm in Clayton Co IA before his death. Mary moved to Elgin IA after the farm was sold by the estate and never remarried. Children with marked graves in this Stahl family plot are Catherine Jane Stahl (divorced from Ira Harrington), gravestone Jane Stahl findagrave memorial #69221207, and William Franklin Stahl, who lived with his mother and never married, gravestone "Frank Stahl" findagrave memorial #69221206.
It is also likely that other children are buried in this plot in unmarked graves.
