Rachel Overton Sibley, age 90, formerly of Huntsville, died on Wednesday April 27, 2011.
Rachel Overton Sibley was born on May 27, 1920 in Madison County, Alabama to Andy Waller Overton and Florence Whitaker Overton. She grew up on a small farm and helped her parents with the farm work
When WWII began, Rachel applied for a job at the Huntsville arsenal where bombs for the war were being made. Her first job was on an assembly line.
When the war was over, Rachel got a job with General Shoe Co. and was again working on an assembly line but making shoes instead of bombs. Later she worked for Brown Engineering (Teledyne).
Rachel married Arnold Sibley on April 10, 1965. Rachel and Arnold had more than 30 happy years together.
Rachel has been at the A.G. Rhodes Home in Marietta, Georgia since July 1, 2003. She passed away peacefully on April 27, 2011.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arnold Sibley, and her sister Marjorie Overton. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Overton Schreiber and other family members.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville where the Family will receive Friends on Friday at 11am. Services will follow at 12:30pm in the Spry Chapel. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.
