According to an article in the NEHGR (1958), Parretteen was one of 6 children of Paratteen White and an unknown Field. Her siblings were Anna (1746-1832) married to Simon Stevens; Parretteen, Daniel (b. 1752-1824) married to Hannah Williams; Bethiah (1756-1836) married to Abraham Lockwood; Esther (1759-1832) married to Jacob Lockwood, and Luther (1762 - 1844) married to Hannah Williams. Their mother Paratteen was a sister to Sarah (White) Lockwood, wife of William Carr Lockwood.

At age 25, 29 May 1775, Parratteen married Esq. Waters Chillson in Brookfield, MA. It is not known when or why she left Rhode Island for Massachusetts. However, by September 1778 when their son Benjamin was born, she and Waters had removed to the rapidly growing Connecticut River Valley area in Windsor County, VT. they were among the earliest settlers of Weathersfield in Windsor County. She spent the remainder of her life there, never remarrying after Waters death.
