James David 'Dave' Baker, 84 of Zanesville , OH died 7:10 AM Tuesday, May 03, 2011 at Autumn Health Care Zanesville OH.

He was born Wednesday, March 09, 1927 in Zanesville OH the son of George Baker and Agnes (Burkhardt) Baker.

He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church .
Served in the United States Navy during World War II.
He was a house painter and owner of Baker Painting, Baker Rentals and a member of the VFW.

Dave is survived by five children: Connie (Tom) Chappelear of Cambridge; Kevin Baker, Chris Baker, Pat (Darlene) Baker, Carolyn (Mike Boals) Brown all of Zanesville; one daughter-in-law: Judy Baker (Steve) Fulmer of Marietta; 13 grandchildren: T.C. Chappelear, Diane Burch, Jennifer Baker, Jill Caplinger, Jim Baker III, Abbie Frase, Keelie Baker Goldsmith, Joey Baker, Bryan Baker, Amy Baker, Teresa Smith, Cassie Latham, Nick Latham and Cody Latham; 16 great grandchildren; two sisters; Jane (Chuck) Durant and Mary Margaret "Tip" Kempf; two brothers: Fred (Mary Ann) Baker and Frank 'Bunk' Baker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Bonnie Jean (Agin) Baker who died Dec. 10, 1993; one son: James David Baker, II; three brothers: Herb, Joe and Bernard Baker and two sisters Beatrice Baker and Bernice Bee, and daughter-in-law Ellen Marie Roessler Baker.

Visitation will be held 3-5 and 6-8pm with eulogy recited by family member at 7:45pm Friday May 6th at t he Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Ave. Memorial contributions can be made to the Charity of your choice. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 07, 2011 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church 925 East Main Street Zanesville OH with Fr. Martin Ralko as celebrant.
Burial with military honors will conclude in the Zanesville Memorial Park Zanesville OH
