Seaside, Aug. 29 (Special)
Word has been received here of the death of Alexander Gilbert, former Seaside resident, in San Rafael, Cal., where he had been making his home for two years.
Mr. Gilbert was the son of the late Alexander Gilbert Sr., pioneer resident of Astoria and prominent lower Columbia river district citizen until the time of his death in Seaside six years ago.
For many years Mr. Gilbert was identified with the business enterprises of his father in Astoria and Seaside. The Gilberts moved to Seaside about 40 years ago.
Mr. Gilbert is survived by two children, Mrs. J E. Hogland and Alexander III, and three grandchildren, all of Portland. Two sisters, Mrs. Victor Finch of Seaside and Mrs. Angelle (sic) Watson, of the Lewis and Clark district, also survive him.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
