Married about 1824 in England to Joseph Chapman, son of George and Hannah (Bramal) Chapman, came from a very poor family - mother, stepfather, and 3 half brothers, all living in 1848, Ann was apparently living with her daughter Sarah (Chapman) Bennett when Ann died.
At least just before emigration Joseph lived and worked in Lees Lancashire, England, and was active in temperance work there and after he signed the teetotal pledge all the family who were big enough went to work in the factory so as to get enough money to go to America and get the family out of the factory and on to a farm; they left England from Liverpool on the ship "Liverpool", arrived in New York on 23 Mar 1848 with family members and ages listed: Joseph (46), Anne (43), William (23), Sarah (19), Mosses [Moses] (17), George (15), John (13), Hannah (11), Mary (6), found a place to live near Providence Rhode Island for nearly 2 years, from Providence to Fulton County, Illinois in late 1849 after coming first to Chicago, bought a small piece of poor land on time and all but Joseph and William worked outside the farm to help make ends meet.
