Andrew Kolb
Andrew Kolb was born December 9, 1868 on a farm in Grove Township, Stearns County, Minnesota. As a lad of six he moved with his parents to Melrose and spent almost his entire life in Melrose until his death in 1938.
He married Rosalia Hun of St. Cloud on May 2, 1893. His wife preceeded him in death by only six weeks and his father, George M Kolb Sr., by only one week.
Andrew Kolb was engaged in the lumber business for many years, the firm being called the A.Kolb Lumber Company.
He elected to the office of mayor of the city of Melrose and served from 1921 to 1923. He was again elected to this office, serviing from 1933 until the time of his death (1938).
Andrew Kolb was known as an ardent sportsman and enjoyed nothing more than an afternoon of fishing in the summer and an evening of bowling in the winter. For many years he managed the St. Boniface bowling lanes.
Andrew Kolb died December 28, 1938 - and at the time was in his second term as Mayor of Melrose. See Mayor Kolb's obituary in the PHOTO section.

The obituary found in the PHOTO section was published in the Melrose Beacon on December 29, 1938. It states that his wife, Rosalia Kolb, died a month before (November) Andrew. She actually died two months before Andrew Kolb, on October 10, 1938 (see below)

In 1938, there were five Kolbs that died and are buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in Melrose, Minn. The five Kolbs and their relation to Andrew Kolb are:
