Martha Gibbs Kenney, 90, widow of John Thomas Kenney, died April 13, 2011 at NHC of Greenwood.

Born in Chesnee, SC, October 6, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Lucius Walter & Jesse Smith Gibbs. Mrs. Kenney was a former member of Westchester Baptist Church in High Point, NC and a member of the South Main Street Baptist Church in Greenwood.

She formerly taught Sunday school and was an active member of the WMU at both Westchester and South Main Baptist Churches. She was also a member and Past President of the Woman�s Club of High Point, NC and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are two sons, Jack Kenney and wife Sherry of Dacula, GA & Jim Kenney and wife Hilly of Greenwood; two sisters, Ruth Gorham of Thomasville, NC & Joyce Devan of York, PA; one brother, Bob Gibbs of Berlin, MD; three grandchildren, Jud Kenney and wife Chantal Ouimet of Montreal, Canada, Russell Kenney and wife Carolyn & Betsy Freeman and husband Tom, all of Woodstock, GA.

Funeral services were conducted at the South Main Baptist Church with Rev. Alan Quigley officiating.
Burial was in Oakbrook Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were David Bumpus, Randy Culbertson, Martin Moore, Terry Latham, Jack McDowell, & Dixon Teal.

The body is at Blyth Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 3:00 PM Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the South Main Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 1093, Greenwood, SC 29648.

The Blyth Funeral Home in Greenwood assisted the family with the arrangements.
