Pe Ell Rite Announced
PE ELL - Mrs. Maude D. Rhyne, 76, Pe Ell, died Monday in a Centralia nursing home.
She was born June 26, 1894, in Missouri and had been a resident of the Lewis County area for 68 years. She was a past matron and a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Pe Ell Booster Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Doris Laymon (Dorris Layman), Pe Ell; a son, Donald, Port Angeles; a sister, Mrs. Anna Smith, Raymond; two brothers, Hugh Snelson Anaheim, Calif., and Richard Snelson, Pe Ell, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Pe Ell Methodist Church with the Rev. Ken Thurman officiating. Interment will follow at the Claquato Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cattermole Funeral Home, Winlock.

Maude married Alfred Franklin Rhyne on June 25th, 1913 in Chehalis, Lewis County, Washington. Alfred had died in 1950, so I had never met him.

Memories:
I remember stopping at Aunt Maude's house on the way back from fishing. My Dad would stay and Mom would bring us children home so we could go to school. So we would stop and visit with Aunt Maude. She would always have cookies and milk for us. I can remember she was always smiling and happy.
