Glen A. Cassel, 76, of Cheyenne died Feb. 8 at United Medical Center-West after a short battle with cancer.

Glen was born in a sod house Jan. 23, 1924, in Ansley, Neb.,to James Sidney Cassel and Gertrude Frances Daugherty Cassel, Douglas,Hart.
He was married to Mary Lee Kugler in 1949 and they moved to Horse Creek, Wyoming after the birth of their first child, Bonnie. Glen and Mary had 6 more children, Sid, Terry, Gail, Timothy, Connie and Mary Robin. They divorced about 1960 and he remarried in 1965 to Marlene Lebsack Fritchel.

He was a limestone miner for Great Western Sugar Company in Horse Creek, for 28 years and had also worked for Pillsbury in Egbert and Burns as an grain elevator operator for several years. He was a man of many talents, could build anything or repair anything. He was a hard worker taking care of his family.

Mr. Cassel was a charter member of United Gypsum Mine Workers Union and a member of Experimental Aircraft Association.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene E. Cassel, whom he married July 21, 1965, in Cheyenne; five sons, Sidney Cassel of Scottsdale, Ariz., Timothy Cassel of Lees Summit, Mo., Terry Cassel, Gail Cassel and Glen Mark Cassel, all of Cheyenne; five daughters, Bonnie Graeber of Anchorage, Alaska, Connie McCaslin, Kashawna White, and Karoleigh Cassel, all of Cheyenne, Mary Robin Abernathy of Sacramento, Calif.; two step sons, Michael and Patrick Fritchel and two stepdaughters, Suzan and Careen, one brother, Ronald G. Douglas of Grand Island, Neb.; three sisters, Velma Sandberg of Hillsdale, Jeanine O'Connor of Sargent, Neb., and Beverly Crawford of McCook, Neb.; 25 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Cassel was preceded in death by his parents, James S.Cassel and Gertrude F.Hart; and three grandchildren,
and one sister Betty Broward.
