Marguerite Templeton was the daughter of Dr.Charles Ritchey and Hetty Louise Templeton of Portland, Oregon. She was b.Aug 13, 1897, one of two surviving children. She also had an older brother named Charles Edward, who was also a doctor (of dentistry). Upon completion of high school, she attended University of California at Berkeley, receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree. She then went East to New York to do Graduate work at Columbia University. Upon her return, she again attended University of California at Berkeley, attaining her Master's Degree, after which she taught French at the University. At some point, she met Dr.Laurence Ellsworth Dodd (b.1886) and they married on July 3rd, 1929 in Los Angeles, California, where Dr.Dodd lived and taught at UCLA for 33 yrs (1924-1957). They lived in Los Angeles until he retired in 1957 and had no children. Also, they were members of the Beverly Hills Community Church. Following his retirement they moved to Port Angeles, Washington, living at
1132 E. Third St. and attending the United Methodist Church. Marguerite's husband died Sept 14, 1975. She moved to Sequim, Washington in 1983 & remained there until her death on Oct 5, 1985. Her memorial service was held at the United Methodist Church and her remains cremated, then interred with her husband's at River View Cemetery in Portland, Oregon in the Templeton plot.
