Mary E. Gale, age 88, of Mattoon, passed away at 11:26 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. Family graveside services will be held at Noon Thursday at Dodge Grove Cemetery with Rev. Van Frownfelter officiating. Visitation for the public will be from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home. Mary E. Gale was born September 6, 1917 at Diona (Dogtown), Illinois a daughter of Thomas and Emma Trader Stine. Surviving are her children, Jerry Garr and husband Lee of Elk Grove Village, Susan Morgan and husband Dick of Decatur, Katherine Kelly of Mattoon and Leon Frank Gale and wife Sandee of Decatur. She also leaves nine grandchildren, Sherry Lawrence and husband Morey of Mattoon, Justine Schelenbecker and husband Don of Elk Grove Village, Kimberly Suffern and husband Ryan of Studio City, CA, James Wesley Gale of Mattoon, Richard Clayton Morgan of Lincoln, IL, Lisa Roberts and husband Larry of Mattoon, Mike Allen and wife Amye of West Palm Beach, FL, Gina Ashe and husband Rick of Decatur and Leigh Laplow and husband Ben of Mt. Zion. Twelve great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by eight brothers. Mary was a retired registered nurse at Mattoon Memorial Hospital and Alexian Brothers Hospital at Elk Grove Village. She possessed a strong faith in God. In her leisure time she enjoyed crossword puzzles and visiting with her many friends at the Fellowship Center. She enjoyed most spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family requests no flowers, but rather suggests memorial contributions to a charity of the donor''s choice.
