Daughter of Thomas and Maryella (Bowman) Parkinson.

She was born in Fairfield, Buana Vista, Iowa, but at just 3 months old she and her family moved by covered wagon to York, Nebraska.

Per custom back then she began teaching school right out of high school.

In December of 1897 she was united in marriage with George Donald Gunn. To this union there are 3 known living children.

Errett Fillmore (Shorty) Gunn born May 6, 1899. Married Helen Downing July 6, 1924. Had three children. Died Mar. 11, 1979.

Arthur Joseph Gunn born Jan 15, 1908. Died Nov. 12, 1931. Never married.

George Parkinson Gunn born May 21, 1910. Married 1933 Myrtle (unknown maiden name, or for how long or if there was a child or children). Married Evelyn Johansen
Dec. 27, 1951 by JP, married 5 days later Jan 1, 1952 by minister a college buddy of his. 3 children born to this union. Died June 1984.

Belle taught school even after marriage, as did George Donald. Then in 1902 she, Donald and young son Errett moved to the Philipines, to teach English and such, in a pre-peace corps, plan of the goverment, after the Spanish-American War.

By 1906 or 1907 they were back in Nebraska, because George Donald had gotten an illness over there that nearly took his hearing (my guess a very high fever). They got a farm and had their 2 other sons. In 1913 his hearing was so bad they moved to Florida.

After many up and down years because of the market crash and then the Depression, loss of their son Arthur, and then Donald being run down by a hit and run driver, leaving her a widow at the age of 67, her sister-in-law Christina "Tena" Margaret Gunn, who had never married and was a teacher moved in with her, since Errett was in Georgia and George P, was in New Jersey. It worked well for the two ladys until Tena passed in Feb of 1961.

George Parkinson Gunn got his mothers home sold and moved her to live with them in New Jersey. She celebrated her 90th Birthday with them Jan of 1962, then 3 months later passed. Her son brought her back to be beside her husband and son, in the Gunn Plot where Ann Murray Gunn, Tena Gunn and Anna Gunn, her husband George D.'s mother and two maiden sisters are laid to rest, as well.
