Warren Holdeman, 88, 310 West Waterford St, Wakarusa, died of a sudden heart attack at 2:05 pm Thursday, Sept 11, at the home of his daughter, Mrs Dale (Marjorie) Reynolds, Wakarusa, while he was dressing to attend the funeral of his wife.
Funeral services for Mrs. Katherine Holdeman, who died Tuesday, were cancelled and a double funeral was held at 1 pm Saturday, Sept 13, at the Wakarusa United Methodist Church. The Rev Charles Henderson officiated and both burials were at Olive Cemetery.
Mr Holdeman was born in Baugo Township May 28, 1887, to Abner and Emma (Dodge) Holdeman.
He married Katherine Zoe Smith May 14, 1919.
Mr Holdeman taught school for 40 years in the Wakarusa area and also worked as a farmer and insurance agent.
He was a member of the Wakarusa United Methodist Church and the Wakarusa Lions Club.
Surviving are another daughter, Mrs Brice (Laurette) Bender, Elk Rapids, Mich; a brother, Walter Holdeman, Wakarusa; a sister, Mrs Florence Yoder, Wakarusa; eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Memorials may be given to the Wakarusa United Methodist Church.
