CHEROKEE, Iowa, - Carol M. Allender, 52, a resident of Cherokee, Iowa, and formerly of Davenport, died Friday, June 22, 2007, at the Good Samaritan Center in Holstein, Iowa, following an extended illness. Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease & Related Disorders Foundation.

She was born June 29, 1954, in Davenport, the daughter of Alex and Mary (Garcia) Rocha and was a 1972 graduate of Davenport Central High School and a graduate of the American Institute of Commerce in Davenport. On June 7, 1975, she was united in marriage to Frank J. Allender in Davenport.

Carol was an instrumental part of the growth and success of the Allender Chiropractic Office in Cherokee. She enjoyed exercising, sewing and especially loved the times spent with family. A committed Christian, Carol was an active member of her church as well.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Frank; her daughters, Christine (Kevin) Nordstrom, of Bettendorf and Rebecca Allender, of Cherokee; her son, Joshua Allender, of Cherokee; her grandchildren, Trae Nordstrom, Ameera Nordstrom, Forest Allender, and Frankie Jena Allender; her father, Alex Rocha, of Davenport; her sisters, Laura (Steve) Wagschal, of Davenport, and Mary Beth Rocha, of Rock Island; her brother, Daniel (Joanne) Rocha, of Geneseo, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding her in death were her mother, Mary and her brother, David Rocha.
