On August 1, 1923, she married Charles A. Sales in Manhattan. Mary raised her family on a farm southwest of Belgrade until 1952, when they moved to a farm southwest of Bozeman.
Mary was a member of the Sons and Daughters of the Pioneers. She also loved crocheting, sewing and gardening. Her pets were a big part of her life.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Ethel and Billy Ford of Bozeman, and Margaret and Eldon Hudson of Sand Coulee; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Ramona Sales of Bozeman; son-in-law, Percy Gates; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was especially blessed to have nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles in 1979; daughter, Dorothy Gates in 1980; two brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct.8, at Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel. Interment will follow in Meadowview Cemetery in Manhattan.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Gallatin Valley or to Evergreen Care Center.
