Andy Rodgers,"Blues Muscian" and cowboy was given the name of Midnight Cowboy by his bossman in Doris, California.. Mr. William Hill from Hill Brothers Ranch and Grand Daddy of The Blues by his fellow muscian friends.
His late cousins, Sonny Boy Williamson and Bo Diddley were among his inspirations to be an entertainer. He was a professional boxer and worked as a cowboy, having his own business hauling hay. He appreared on the Gong Show in 1976 and 1977 taking home two trophies. He was on Bill Cosby's "You Bet Your Life Show" in 1992 and was awarded Humanitarian Award by The Southern California Motion Picture Awards in Oakland 1994. He gave his name sake so Hollywood could use "Midnight Cowboy" in the movie with Dustin Hoffman and his music is in "The Big Easy." He recorded two CD's from 1992 "Freight Train Blues" and 1995 "Chicken Thief Blues." Known for his delta blues style on the gituar his style of harmonica blowing are unduplicated to this day. A book on his life will reflect his days from sharecropping in Mississippi to his walks as an entertainer and cowboy across the Nation. He perfomed with legends greats,such as Carey Bell, Bubba Barnes, Jr. Wells, Billy Boy Arnold, Raful Neal, Kenny Neal, Little Walter, Phillip Walker, T-Bone Walker, Little Milton, Cab Calloway, Charles Brown, Box Car Willie, Rose Maddox, Mickey Gilley, Willie Nelson, Blind Lemon, Harmonica Slim,Sonny Rhodes,Honey Boy Edwards,to mention a few. He was inducted into the Cowboy Blues Hall of Fame in Nevada City, California. He also played for President Ford at The Hilton in Fresno, California. Known for blocking the street corners in New Orleans with his harmonica playing, he was also a preacher.
