Actor. Born in Logansport, Indiana, he was most noted for his New York theater career and for his long running role of Hamlet from the Broadway production "Hamlet" in the early 1900s. He also staged the first production of "The Melting Pot" in 1907. A popular performer, with the advent of movies, he appeared in screen version of "The Melting Pot" (1915) and "The Belgian" (1918), during the silent film era. He died at the age of 73 in Hastings on the Hudson, New York.
