He was a native of Beaufort, SC and lived in Savannah for many years. He was a member of St. Phillips Monumental A.M.E. Church and served with the Willing Workers. He was retired from Georgia Pacific after 30 years of service.
Survivors: a very loving and devoted wife of 30 years, Mrs. Queen Lively Smashum; three sons; two daughters; four sisters; three step-sons; three step-daughters; a loving mother and father-in-law, Mrs. Daisy Brown and Mr. Henry Brown; four sisters-in-law; 31 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, cousins, and loyal friends.
Funeral: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 22, at St. Phillips Monumental A. M.E., Rev. Walter Daniels, Pastor.
Burial: Big House Cemetery, Lady's Island, SC.
