ROCK ISLAND--Funeral services for Dr. George M. Babcock, 89, who died Saturday in his home, 1004 Twentieth street, Rock Island, will be conducted in the Hodgson funeral home at 3 this afternoon. The Rev. Dan Gold Long, pastor of Broadway Presbyterian church will be in charge, with burial in Chippiannock cemetery.

A life resident of Rock Island county, he was born April 13, 1864, near East Moline. He graduated from Moline high school and received his degree from the dental school of the University of Iowa in 1888. His marriage to Hattie Jackson took place in Rock Island Feb. 15, 1893.

Dr. Babcock practiced dentistry in the early 1900's and in recent years had been engaged in real estate and building contracting. He engineered the laying out of Silvis and the Babcock addition in East Moline.

Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Herbert Metcalf, Detroit, Mich.; two sons William J. of Lafayette, Calif., and George S. Babcock, Toledo, O; a brother, Drury Babcock, Moline, and eight grandchildren.
