Lillie J. Elza
Lillie Jessie Thompson "Lill" Elza, 88, a resident of Alpena, departed this life Thursday evening, Sept. 26, 2002, at her home. She had been in declining health for the past several years, although death was unexpected.
She was born Feb. 16, 1914, at Onego, Pendleton County, a daughter of the late Amby Thompson and Delphia Payne Thompson.
On July 20, 1935, she was married to Phillip Morton Elza, who preceded her in death on March 9, 2002.
Surviving are three sons, Troy Elza and Kenneth Elza, both of Alpena, and Herald Elza, Bowden; two daughters, Rutholene Elza Nelson, Dry Fork, and Mildred Elza, Alpena; two brothers, Archie Thompson, Alpena, and Jerlo Thompson, Riverton; two sisters, Mary Thompson and Peachie Thompson, both of Riverton; eight grandchildren, Kathy Kerns, Linda Teter, Donald Nelson, Clifford Elza, Connie Rowe, Michael Elza, Patrick Elza and Julie Poling; and three great-grandchildren, Matt Elza, Brennan Elza and Kali Elza.
Preceding her in death besides her husband are three brothers, Hughie, Trummie and Dewey Thompson; and one sister, Ressie Biller.
Mrs. Elza was a homemaker and had worked as a cook for Nanny Harpers Boarding Home in her early years.
Cremation services were provided by the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home Sunday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., at which time a memorial service will be held.
