Candace Jones was the fourth child born to John B Jones 1849–1923 and Rebecca Frances Crabtree 1854–1926. The two brothers and a sister were at home to greet the new baby. They were: William F. Jones b. 1874; Mary Jones b. 1876; and Jasper Jones b. 1878. When Candace was 6 years old a baby brother was born, Isaac Jones arrived in 1887, and in 1896, sister, Laura Jones was born.

Candace married Robert Maylon Hawkins and gave birth to four children. They were: Georgie Hawkins 1901–1972, Georgie married Bert Arnott on June 17 1955; Mary Francis Hawkins 1907–1972, Francis married Rassie Buchanan on Feb. 13, 1926; Robert Franklin Hawkins 1912–1949; Paul Jones Hawkins 1914–1974, Paul married "Buna" Evelyn Coffey on Nov. 6 1931.

Candace's mother-in-law, and sister-in laws, that had moved to California always referred to her as Dace, She wrote very informative letters regularly to them, and the letters were shared with all of the California family.

Documents (Marraige records, and census) are evidence that she preferred to be called Daisy.

Candace died on June 15, 1958, and her Death Certificate reveals that she died at the Takoma Hosptial in Greenvill Tennesee, On hand to be the informant of the cert. was her oldest daughter Georgie Hawkins Arnott.
