Alex Stiers of Bluffton died suddenly at his home Monday night. He reached the age of 62 years and 3 months. Deceased was born at Bluffton May 15, 1887, and was engaged in farming his entire lifetime. He was married to Miss Vena (Malvenia) Grotewiel of Rhineland. To this union seven (correct total 9 children), one of who died in infancy (correction - 3 died in infancy). Mrs. Stiers died a number of years ago. The children surviving are Mrs. John (Lottie) Geringer of Omaha, Nebr; Mrs. Jesse (Margaret) Kleindienst of Bluffton; Aubrey Stiers of Fulton; Mrs. Julius Zeugin (Lucille), Cecil Stiers and Mrs. B. B. Livingston (Jeanette) of Granite City, Ill. His second marriage was with Miss Elizabeth Kleindienst of Bluffton. This union was blessed with two children, Edith and Billy. Besides his wife and children, he leaves several grandchildren, 2 sisters, Mrs. Wm. Gleeson and Mrs. Elmer Franklin of Bluffton; four brothers, Walters Stiers of Portland; H. R. Stiers and Wm.., Rhineland; Adolph Stiers and Alvin Stiers of St. Louis, and a host of other relatives and friends. Following funeral services at the Free Methodist Church Thursday afternoon, burial took place in the church cemetery.
Alex is the son of William Casper and Martha Jane (Quick) Stiers.
Marriage to Malvenia C. Grotewiel - June 1909, Montgomery County, Missouri. Marriage to Elizabeth Kleindienst - August 30, 1930, Jefferson City, Cole, Missouri.
