He was a former Secretary for the Florence and Browns Mills Building and Loan Associations. He was a 70 year member of the First Baptist Church of Florence. After his retirement he devoted much of his time to his hobby of photography. He was a member of the camera clubs of Moorestown and Pemberton. He was also a member of the Photographic Society of America from which he held a Five Star rating. Many of his slides won numerous awards and were featured in several magazine articles. One of them is also part of the P.S.A. Nature Division Permanent Slide Collection. He was Past-President of the Florence Townshiop Board of Eduction, a position he held for 26 years. During that time he was instrumental in helping to create Florence's own High School. From 1920 to 1935 he was Clerk of the Burlington County Freeholders.
