Mrs. Margaret Arns, 80, of Forest Junction, Calumet County, died Sunday morning at Kaukauna Community Hospital after a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday at Wieting Funeral Home, Brillion, and at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church, Hollandtown, Brown County, the Rev. James McInnis officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary Catholic Church Cemetery, Hilbert, Calumet County.
Mrs. Arns was born Margaret Sommers April 21, 1881, at Brillion, daughter of the late Stephan and Caroline Sommers.
She taught in rural Calumet County schools for a number of years and later taught the fifth and sixth grades in Brillion Public Schools. She was educated in rural Longfellow Elementary School in Calumet County, Chilton High School and Oshkosh Normal School, now called Oshkosh State Teachers College.
She was married to George Arns of Brillion, Oct. 29, 1912, at Hilbert. They resided at Hilbert until his death Aug. 12, 1916, at Oconomowoc.
She was a member of the Altar Society of St. Francis Church at Hollandtown and a member of the Happy Death Society of Gesu Catholic Church, Milwaukee. She was a lifetime member of the Crusaders of Washington, D.C., and also a member of the E.R.A. of Neenah. Mrs. Arns had many hobbies and enjoyed traveling.
A sister, Mrs. Mary Barnard, and a brother, John, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Anna) Schaefer of Rt. 2, Hilbert, and Mrs. Edward (Crescentia) Jansch of Rt. 3, Kaukauna, and a brother, Michael of Forest Junction.
Friends may call at the funeral home, where the Rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock this Monday evening by members of the parish.
