Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in University Church of Christ with David Lough, minister, and Bob Shepard officiating. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors.
Oleta Abbott was born Jan. 26, 1923, in Floyd County to O.B. and Maggie Ellen Smith Tinnin. She attended Canyon High School. She married Ferrell Abbott on Aug. 25, 1940, in Amarillo, and he preceded her in death Aug. 12, 2000.
Oleta Abbott was a member of University Church of Christ and loved the Lord. Fondly known as "MeeMaw," she was devoted to her family and was an avid collector of grandkids and great-grandkids.
She was also preceded in death by two grandsons, a great granddaughter; and a nephew.
Survivors include five children, Ted Abbott and wife Kitty of Paulsbo, Wash., Patricia Abbott, Mickey Abbott, Freida Gist and husband Roger and Randy Abbott and wife Janet, all of Canyon; a brother, R.V. Tinnin and wife Rosemary of San Antonio; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four nieces.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Brooks Chapel.
The family suggests memorials be to High Plains Children's Home, P.O. Box 7448, Amarillo, TX 79114.
