Margaretha was baptized at Bath, Illinois on December 23, 1894 and confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church at Hendley, Neb., on April 23, 1911. She had been a member of Zion Lutheran Church since childhood. Later she attended Immanuel Lutheran Church at Norton, Kansas, where she was a faithful member until her passing away.
She attended rural school at Bath, Illinois until the age of eight years when her family moved to a farm near Beaver City. She attended rural school and high school at Beaver City graduating in 1916. She then attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln for three years after which she taught rural schools for 35 years. She moved to Norton, Kansas in October 1972.
She was proceeded in death by her father, mother, a baby sister, Christina and one brother Ernest. She is survived by her sister, Lizzie of Norton, Kansas, three brothers, Harman and Carl of Oxford, NB and Frank of Kearney, NB; three sister-in-law, eight nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Norton, May 21, 1974 with Pastor John C. Vrogaard officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Russel Leonard and G.W. Shafer, Jr. Paul bearers were Lyle Martin, Russel Babcock, Robert Hutchins, Don Cass, Bill Lamb and Glenn Cornell. Interment was in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Beaver City
