Eremenegilda "Gilda" Cerio Foscolo, 92, of Syracuse , died Tuesday at Community General Hospital after a short illness. Gilda at age 8 arrived from Italy with her parents. Her family meant everything to her. With her husband, Joseph, she raised her four children. Gilda is remembered for her devotion, service and love; her home welcomed all with peace and hospitality- she was noted for her traditional Christmas Eve dinner that featured homemade dishes of the seven fishes. Devout in her faith and cheerful in her love, we miss our mother and rejoice in her journey's end with Our Father in Heaven. Gilda retired from Learbury's as a seamstress after more than 20 years. Communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, former member of the senior citizens group at St. John's, Pompei and Holy Trinity. Predeceased by her husband, Joseph Foscolo in 1991.
Survivors: sons, Nicholas A. (Barbara) of Syracuse and David (Theresa) Foscolo of Buffalo; daughters, JoAnn Consroe of Syracuse and Patricia (Michael) Kane of Cazenovia; grandchildren, Shane Consroe of Syracuse , Erin of NYC, and Michael Kane of Jersey City; brother, Michael A. (Inge) Cerio of Liverpool; sister, Dorthea (Joseph) DeMari of Syracuse ; two sisters-in-law, Adeline Foscolo and Ida Foscolo both of Syracuse ; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services Friday 9 a.m at FARONE & SON and 9:30 a.m in St. John the Baptist Church. Burial in Assumption Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday 3 to 8 p.m.
